About Sarah Davis

brief biography and family

Sarah Owen was the daughter of Samuel and Sarah Owen. Sarah and her parents came to America from Wales. Nothing else is known about Sarah's early years before she married.

By 1751 in Cumberland Co, PA Sarah was married to Owen Davis. He was 10 years older than Sarah and was the son of of Phillip and Jane Davis. Owen and his parents were also from Wales and came to America in 1751. (It is possible that Owen & Sarah were married in Wales.)

Sarah and Owen were Baptists. After they left Maryland for PA they belonged to the Tonoloway Baptist Church in Franklin County, PA.

In the 12 or so years that Sarah and Owen were married they had 5 children.

Sadly, Sarah died when she was only 27. Her burial location is unknown, (probably in Franklin County, PA where they lived).

After Sarah's death Owen married Hannah James. They moved to what is now Georges Twp, Fayette Co, PA where Owen had 12 more children and lived for the remainder of his life.
