Obituary published in The Gospel Messenger, April 6, 1918, page 222:
Dredge, Sister Sarah Jane, nee Heck, wife of our present elder, Bro. D. S. Dredge, born near New Carlisle, Ohio, died March 12, 1918. In early womanhood she gave her heart to God and for thirty-six years she has been a faithful and consistent member of the Church of the Brethren. At the age of twenty-seven she married Bro. D. S. Dredge. To them were born six children, all but one of whom are living. She was a sufferer of heart trouble for ten years and was confined to her home for the last eight months. During this entire period of lingering illness she exercised much patience and showed great faith in her God. She was a devoted helpmate to her husband, sharing with him the burdens and trials of his ministry and aiding him with her counsel and encouragement. In the church she filled well her place as one of the mothers of Israel. Services by Eld. J. Howard Eidemiller, assisted by Bro. Drue Funderburg. Interment in New Carlisle cemetery. – Mrs. Viola L. Shroyer, New Carlisle, Ohio.
