About Sarah E. Eseke
Sarah and her family were living in Illinois when she married a young man from Prussia 12 Nov. 1851. They had a baby girl, Ellen Elizabeth before they moved to Scott County Iowa and had four more children. She was by herself for a long period of time after her husband, Bernard, enlisted in the 20th Infantry, Company G, of Iowa in 1862. He was wounded in the battle at Fort Blakely in April of 1865, and was discharged the month after that. They were reunited and presumably lived happily back in Iowa.
