About Sarah Gist
Sarah Howard was the daughter of Joshua Howard, who had emigrated from Manchester, England to Maryland. She married Christopher Gist in Maryland. Her sister Mary Howard married Christopher's brother Nathaniel Gist. She was the mother of :
- Richard Gist, Sept. 2, 1729, who was killed in the battle of King's Mountain, 1780.
- Nathaniel Gist, who was born Oct. 15, 1733.
- Thomas Gist, who is said to have settled in Kentucky after the Revolutionary war, in which he was a training officer.
