About Sarah Hartsfield

Sarah Lynn, daughter of James Lynn, was the widow of Archibald McElroy in 1760, so she must have married Jacob Hartsfield after 1760 as 2nd wife.

Jacob Hartsfield (b. 3 Jan 1737) married Sarah Lynn (dau of James Lynn). She was the widow of Archibald Mackelroy/McElroy, Jr. Archibald was the son of Archibald, b. 13 Feb 1719 (birth proven), son of John and Frances of Baltimore Co., MD.Archibald, Jr. was born in 1738. He died in 1760, leaving a son Micajah, b. 1760. Jacob Hartsfield left Micajah (his stepson)a legacy in his will.

There probably was an earlier Sarah Lynn who married an older Andrew Hartsfield, but I think the two Sarah Lynns and connections may be confused.

Also, Andrew Hartsfield (younger) DID marry a daughter of William and Ghaskey McElroy. However, McElroy researchers do not know her name. William's daughter Ghaskey, married 1st Isaac Dawson and second Dennis Grady (well proven). I doubt William and Ghaskey had 2 daughters named Ghaskey.

William (b. 23 Dec 1717) was a brother to Archibald, Sr. mentioned above.

The McElroys were in NC before 1742. Avington McElroy and wife Sarah Dawson (sister of Isaac Dawson who married Ghaskey McElroy, Avington's 1st cousin) had their son William (b. 1773) christened in Goochland Co., VA. There has been some thought that the McElroys were in Virgina following their leaving Maryland and before they arrived in Craven Co., NC and Johnston Co., NC.
