About Sarah Hudson
Sarah Tinker, the illegitimate child of Alice (Smith) Tinker and Jeremiah Blinman. She was born in 1664, after her mother's husband had died (John Tinker died in Hartford in Oct 1662). On 15 Feb 1664, Tinker's widow, Alice, was examined in court "upon suspition [sic] of being with childe [sic]." On 17 Mar 1664 she admitted "herselfe [sic] to be with child and further said it was by Jeremiah Blinman." On 31 May 1664, she was found to be "guilty of fornication" and ordered to pay a fine.
Soon after, Jeremiah Blinman, the son of Rev. Richard and Mary (Thompson?) Blinman of New London, returned to England to live with his parents (who had returned to England by that time). Jeremiah then married Elizabeth Bartlet, daughter of Rev. W. Bartlet.
It should be noted that a Lt. Samuel Smith of New London thought that HE was the father and had fled to Roanoke, VA (his wife Rebecca remained in CT and subsequently obtained a divorce, and in 1669 she was living as the wife of Nathaniel Bowman of Wethersfield, CT). FYI - This is probably why many online genealogies have this profile as Sarah Smith.
See pages 421 and 422 of the same Oct 1995 NEHGR article Vol 149 that had the Appendix about Sarah (Tinker) Hudson that was uploaded to this profile's Source Tab 19 Dec 2023. (document attached)
