Sarah Hill Measom was born August 19, 1829, in Poonah, India. Poonah is about 100 miles from Bombay. She was the daughter of James & Ann Jarvis Hill. She married Thomas Measom January 15, 1852, in Burton Overy, Leicestershire, England. To this union were born Ellen, Emily, Job, Charles, Phoebe, Agnes, Rosetta, Phyllis, Henrietta, Thomas Jarvis, and James Atkinson. They emigrated to America in 1869, settling in Spanish Fork, Utah. She was a professional knitter, dressmaker and milliner, doing all her sewing by hand.
