About Sarah Elizabeth Moore
Following the death of Dennis Moore Sr in 1734, (in a battle with Tuscarawas Indians) land documents suggest that his wife, the "Widow Moore" moved with her family to New Hanover County, which at that time compromised most of the southeastern portion of the colony of North Carolina. They settled along what is now known as Moores Creek. This area is remembered today for an important Revolutionary War battle between the Patriots and Loyalists.
