Biography for her husband Thomas Newman on Wikitree: "Emigrated on the Ship "Mary and John" 26 March 1634 from Southampton port, Hampshire as per "New England, The Great Migration Begins" was granted 4 acres beyond Muddy River. Additionally John Gage of Ipswich sold Thomas more acreage. Declared a freeman March 1664. Served Essex Court 1660, 1667, 1669. Will 8 Jan 1676 proved 28 March 1676 Inventory taken 9 Feb totalled 538 pounds or which 310 was real estate, dwelling and land attached was $200, land in Maning's Neck 36, Plum Island land 24. Included "3 guns, 2 swords, belts" valued at 50 pounds.
Will dated 8 January 1675/76 gave land to sons Thomas and John Newman which they now already possess, to son Benj the land and dwelling of Thomas Sr. Loving wife Sarah (maybe same as Alice Maddox) to be allow to live in said dwelling. He refers to land called John Maning's Neck and land on Plum Island that he bought from Simon Tuttle to be equally divided after Sarah dies. Son Benj exe.
NEWMAN, THOMAS, at Ipswich 1639, had come 1634, in the "Mary and John", having taken oath of supremacy and alleg. 16 Apr. d. 1676, leaving widow who died 19 Nov. 1679, and sons Thomas, John, and Benjamin. Ref. Savage's First Settlers in New England.
Thomas Newman died in January, 1675, in Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts.[
