Biography

Sarah Colby was born in Salisbury, Massachusetts c 1680 was the daughter of Sergeant John and Sarah (Eldridge) Colby. [1] [2]

She married Daniel Flanders by about1700 at Amesbury, Massachusetts. Daniel was born at Salisbury, Massachusetts on March 16, 1674/5, son of Steven and Abigial (Catrer) Flanders. [3] [1] [2]

Sarah was likely living in 1720 when Daniel signed a receipt for her. [2]

She died prior to October, 1724, when Daniel's intentions to marry widow Dorothy Hoyt were published. [1] [2] [4]

Daniel's estate was administered on April 4, 1735. [1] [2]

Sarah ELDRIDGE was born about 1656 in Salisbury, Essex County, Massachusetts. She died after JUL 1692 at Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts. She has Ancestral File Number 2KNG-PT.

NOTE: Sarah's parentage is questionable. It has been suggested that Sarah is the daughter of William Eldridge and Ann Lumpkin of Yarmouth. Their daughter Sarah married William Bentley.

This issue was taken to court which ruled "there is too much ground for suspicion," but "the case was not proved," and the Court "could not judge Sargent to be the father". At some point in her life, she apparently married John Colby - possibly as his second wife. [1]
