Sarah A. Raffensperger, 95, formerly of Mummasburg Road in Gettysburg, PA died peacefully Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014 surrounded by her family at the Village of Laurel Run in Fayetteville, PA.
She was born May 6, 1918 in Petersburg, W.VA the daughter of the late Edward and Ella Keplinger Simpson. Sarah's husband of 57 years, Guy E. Raffensperger died in 1993.
Sarah was a longtime active member of St. James Lutheran Church. Her faith was very important to her and she imparted it onto her family.
For over 20 years she was associated with the Carroll Shoe Company in Arendtsville, PA. Sarah enjoyed sewing and cooking but most importantly she loved her family and time spent with them.
Mrs. Raffensperger is survived by four children; Carolyn E. Scott and her husband Bill of Gettysburg, PA, Barbara A. Nicks and her husband Milt of Fairfield, PA, Donna J. Myers and her companion Romy of Yuma, AZ, Charles H. Raffensperger and his wife Debbie of Gettysburg, PA, 18 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren, a brother, Glenn Simpson and his wife Jean of Gettysburg, PA, and a son-in-law, Jim Codori of Gettysburg, PA.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Doris Codori, 2 grandsons, Guy L. Stonecypher, Randolph M. Scott, 8 brothers and sisters; Ernest Simpson, Huston Simpson, Lee Simpson, Ralph Simpson, Charles Simpson, Carl Simpson, Opal Kile, Ruby Kuykendall.
