MEMORIAL PHOTOS 5 FLOWERS 2 Sarah Jane was a daughter of James W. "Jim" Collins and Martha M. Bastain of Chilton County, Alabama.
Their was a daughter, Nancy Elizabeth "Nan" born Jan. 18, 1873 to Edgar and Sarah Jane prior to their marriage. Some say this is their child together, others say this was Sarah Jane's daughter long before she met Edgar Rider. However, this child is recognized as Edgar Rider's daughter in his estate when he died in 1926. This daughter was raised as a Collins by Sarah Jane's parents. This daughter married Rufus W. Littlejohn.
Edgar and Sarah Jane adopted and raised Perry S. Johnson. Perry was the step son of their daughter Martha Jane "Mel" and son of William Henry "Will" Johnson by his first wife Misnire Allen. Misnire probably died in child birth or of yellow fever and Edgar and Sarah Jane took Perry in since their son Aaron Rider was about the same age.
