About Sarah "Sallie" Frances Woods
Mrs. Woods Dies, Aged 74 Years -- Mrs. Sarah F. Woods, one of the oldest native born citizens of Adair county, and one of the wealthiest woman in this section of the state died Tuesday night about 7 o'clock at her home, 204 East Washington street, aged 74 years. Mrs. Woods suffered a stroke of paralysis about two years ago and has been failing since that time. She was born near Kirksville, in January 3, 1842, her parents being Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Ivie. She was married to Amos L. Woods who died on December 19, 1884. There were no children born to this union.
Mrs. Woods was a Christian woman, having united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church while a young girl. She leaves three sisters, Mrs. Julia Halliburton, of Carthage, Mrs. Stacey McGuire, of New York City, and Mrs. John L. Porter of this city. The funeral was held from the residence this afternoon, conducted by Rev. Geo. W. Sharp. Burial is Forest cemetery.
