Sarah Woodson w/o Capt. Thomas Shores has been placed in many genealogies as the daughter of Sanbourne Woodson, this has been proven incorrect by the Cumberland County Court Case dated 26 October 1770 The Justices for Olive Roberts vs. John Burch and wife Charity, John Woodson, and John Woodson. Olive is seeking his wife Sarah Woodson's £ 25 inheritance. DNA from 2017 has brought changes to the thought of Sarah Shores. Autosomal DNA testing of Shores descendants have recently revealed connections to the Woodsons of Fluvanna Virginia and with family connections to the Cocke family there. It is possible that Sarah Lloyd might be an alternative choice.

The reason Sarah Woodson wife of Captain Thomas Shores has been attached to Josiah Woodson is that recent DNA findings of 2017 has connected the descendants of Thomas and Sarah to the Woodsons of Henrico/ Fluvanna Virginia. These findings also connect this family as having a relationship to the Cocke family that lived there as well. Captain Thomas Shores is cousin to the Shores Clan in Fluvanna. John Woodson Sr. had several documented sons that could have been Sarah Woodson's father.... and more work is being done to filter it out.
