- 20. Sir Nicholas Strelley, second son of Sir Robert (18), married Catharine, daughter of Thomas West, 8th Lord Delaware. He died at Lenton, 30th April, 1491, and was buried at S. Andrew's, Baynards Castle, London. . . . .

- ' 21. Sir Nicholas Strelley, only son of Sir Nicholas and Catherine, daughter of Lord Delaware. He married, first, Sarah, daughter of Simon Digby, Lieutenant of the Tower ; second, Ellen, daughter of Sir Thomas Gresley ; and, third, Elizabeth, daughter of Sir John Spencer, Kt., by whom he had four sons and four daughters : —
- Sir Anthony, of Strelley; Nicholas, of Beauchief; John; Henry, of Hempsell (from whom the present Mr. Strelley, of Oakerthorpe, is descended) ; and Isabel, Margaret, Jane, and Alice, the wife of Sir John Byron, Kt., who died in 1609, and was buried at Colwic. . . . .

- ' Sir Nicholas Strelley, of Strelley in the county of Nottingham was thrice mar., 1st to Grace, dau. of Simon Digby; 2 Ellen, dau. of Sir Thomas Gresley; 3 Elizabeth, dau. of John Spencer, as it stands in Vincent, to which Thoroton adds that he was a Knight. It appears from Vincent's pedigree that all the children were by the last wife, & Thoroton make the eldest son and one of the younger children by his last wife, as also does Brailsford in his Derbyshire Pedigrees.
- The issue of Sir Nicholas, as stated in Vincent, was 4 sons & 4 dau's, the dau's were Alice, wife of Sir John Biron, Margaret, Jane, wife of Sir ___ Willoughby, & 2nd of Thomas Shelton or Skelton of the county of Suffolk, and Isabel.

- I. Anthony, who was a Knight and owner of Strelley. He was aged 32 at his father's death in 3 Eliz., and was therefore born in or about 1528. He mar. Joan dau. of Sir George Bainham of the County of Gloucester, by whom he had a large family, but three of whom are mentioned by Thoroton or Brailsford. I shall give them as they stand in Vincent. . . . .
- II. Nicholas, who was of Beauchief Abbey in the County of Derby. Of his descendants there is an account in 'Hallamshire,' p. 199. To which I now . . . .
