About Sarah M. 'Sally' Young
Daughter of Ebenezer Zane, for whom the city of Zanesville was named. Her first husband, John McIntire founded the city in 1797. Married 2nd to Rev. David Young. No children.
When his seventeen-year-old daughter Sarah received a marriage proposal from John McIntire, who was eighteen years older, Ebenezer Zane forbade the marriage and huffed off for an extended hunting trip. During his absence, the two married anyway.
