About Scipio Van Madagaskar and Scipio Van Bombase

- Source; Family Search Dutch Reform Church Registers, Cape Town South Africa. Scipio was a slave of Abraham Hartog
- Scipio van Mombasa (aged 10/12), sold by Dominique de Chavonnes, who was leaving the Cape on the Sallant for Ceylon, to the former Jew Abraham Hartog (from Frankfurt). De Chavonnes wished to buy Scipio back on his return in 1691. He was paid Rds. 50.
- Note: He appears to be the same person as Scipio van Madagascar (aged 10/11), sold (29 June 1687) by Jan Baptist Groeneveld, the skipper of the Baren to Gerrit Jansz: van Wijnegum [Wijnegem, Antwerp, Spanish Netherlands now Belgium - aka Gerrit Jansz:
