About Selah (Bass) Chavis / Nansemond to Waccamaw

Location of Selah Chavis' birth place of her mother is oral traditionally held at Indian Woods and moved down to Waccamaw. The NC reference is due to the Col Eaton's location with the Saponi who were mustered Ismael Chavis on his rolls. The communities of that time frame were all in a war service period. This group of Chavis are reported to have unique tie on down, as a later wave on down to Robeson and the bounty land is on record as being in Bladen Co, for war service for this descendant line. (Source: See media avatar of bounty land on Ismeal Chavis' geni avatar). The reason for moving to the Waccamaw was for the precursor work of the political doings that resulted in the Kingston Co Court Petition for a more fair court for natives. That community experience was foundational to land flips from the Tabbs Creek bounty landed Old Cheraw's District families who flipped their properties for Moses Floyd's lands and some returned to the Guildford Community in Robeson by the time of the Rev War and by the time of the War of 1812, many of the group had gone to what became Cheraw, MS with CHoctaw Bill the munitions supplier of the War of 1812. Quite a few of Patriot Chavis' were involved in King's Mountain Militia which is attributed in turning the Rev War loosing streak to a winning one, using native warfare.
