Sewell Walker Morse, former city councilor and veteran operator of river boats, who died yesterday morning after an illness of two weeks, will be conducted at the residence of his daughter, 58 South Ann street. ... Captain Morse ... would have celebrated his ninety-eighth birthday a month from today." He had come to Mobile at age 23 in 1858, and had operated river packets on the Alabama and Tombigbee rivers.
