Enlisted June 26, 1916 at Rochester, NY., Private 3rd Brigade, NY State Militia Promoted to Sergeant May 23, 1917 Changed to 53rd Brigade, 27 Division US Infantry Served overseas May 10, 1918 to March 21, 1919. In action at; Jonc-de-Mer Ridge, Vierstraat Ridge, St. Maurice River, East Poperinghe Line and Dickebusch Lake (Flanders, Belgium), Hindenburg Line. Honorable discharge March 31, 1919 In charge of a machine gun company during WW1, 108th Infantry.
David never fully recovered from being gassed in the Argonne Forest in World War I.
Ran the Springfield, MA branch of the family business.
