Gideon was married on March 12, 1764 to Bethia (Betty) Burton. Betty was born in 1742 in Danbury, CT and died April 24th 1803 in Woodbury,

Gideon and Betty had nine and possibly ten children: Huldah, Agur, Eunice, Phillip, Anna, Gideon, William, Reuben, Betty and possibly Aner.

Gideon was credited with seven months of army service both before and during the Revolutionary War. After his wife died, Gideon road on horseback from Stratford, CT to Cortland County, NY and lived with his son Gideon.
