About Sgt. John H. R. Storey, Medal of Honor

The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Sergeant John Hamilton Reid Storey, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 28 May 1864, while serving with Company F, 109th Pennsylvania Infantry, in action at Dallas, Georgia. While bringing in a wounded comrade, under a destructive fire, Sergeant Storey was himself wounded in the right leg, which was amputated on the same day.
