About Sgt. Leonard Francis Edward Penrose
Leonard Francis Edward Penrose was the son of William Penrose and Lucy Ellen Penrose (nee Howe), of Dunedin, New Zealand. He worked as an accountant for Griffiths Bros., Ltd of Blenheim. Leonard served during World War I and sustained injuries in France. He was shipped to the No. 2 New Zealand General Hospital at Walton-on-Thames in Elmbridge, Surrey, England where he died of his wounds on 30 May 1917. Leonard was buried in the Brookwood Military Cemetery.
