About Sgt. Walter Passfield
A farrier by trade in the Hussars before WW1. Fought in the trenches during WW1. In 1923 migrated to Western Australia under the soldier settlement scheme upon Peel Estate @ Sixty Eight Rd Baldivis (property is now known as Settlers Hill, and a street there is named after him) He swapped properties with another soldier settler in 1926 and moved to Oldbury and his children went to Mundijong school by horse and cart. During the depression the farm failed and he moved to Perth living a few doors up from the WW2 Z Force hero, Jack Sue's family. He eventually gained work as a gardener for the manager of BP at Leighton, who was his captain in the Hussars, and moved to North Fremantle near the famous Dingo Flour Mill.
