Shadrach Price

Shadrach Price and Nancy Jones were married 19 April 1809 in Pulaski County, Kentucky.

Pulaski County Land Records 14 March 1829 Book 71 page 59 Indenture between Shadrack Price and Nancy Price his wife to William Whitaker Waters of Buck Creek containing 50 acres.

According to an Indenture dated 30 January 1830 Shadrack Price and Nancy his wife sell 100 acres on the waters of Buck Creek to Freeman Phelps which 100 acres was Patented to Shadrack Price 9 February 1827. Pulaski County Land Records Book 71 Page 168.

They resided in the area of Buck Creek, Pulaski County, Kentucky. This was the location for the births of all their children. They probably left for Indiana sometime after the 1830 sale of their property.

In the year 1848, Shadrach Price applied for federal land patent in Owen County, Indiana. Patentee PRICE, SHADRICK 5/10/1848 32898 IN 2nd PM 009N - 006W SE¼NW¼ 13 Owen Bureau of Land Management General Land Office

Shadrach Price, wife Nancy, mother-in-law Mary Jones and several children are enumerated in the 1850 census of Jefferson Township, Owen County, Indiana. The 1860 census shows Shadrach (aka Shedric) Price age 76 and wife Nancy age 68 residing with son-in-law Thos. B. Conn (aka Coan). This is interesting in that Clarissa Price, wife of Thomas Coan, was deceased and Thomas had remarried to Parthena (aka Barthena Cooprider). United States Federal Census Jefferson Township, Owen County, Indiana 1850 and 1860.

The headstone of Clarissa Price Coan provides evidence that she was the wife of Thomas B. Coan and also that she was the daughter of Shadreck and Nancy Price. Burials in the Bush Cemetery, Section 24, Jefferson Township, Owen County, Indiana.

Another record of Shadrach Price and Nancy Jones is contained in the biography of his son Reverend Green Clay Price. It states G. C. Price is the son of Shadrach and Nancy Price both born in Virginia. This biography further states his (Green Price) grandfather (Thomas Price) was an Englishman which is born out with YDNA results for direct Price male descendants. YDNA haplogroup I-M253, further refined by additional testing to haplogoup I-FGC10445.

We do not yet have evidence of the ancestry of the wife of John Price so can not say with certainty that she was Irish as indicated by G. C. Price. Full text posted to Green Clay Price profile.
