2. SHEBA EUNICE (BENTLEY) BENNETT, ABT 1765 / 7 - 1794
Sheba Eunice Bentley was born about 1767, probably at East Greenwich, Kent, Rhode Island, daughter of Green Bentley and Diana Straight.
In 1782 Eunice Bentley married Thaddeus Bennett, son of Ephraim and Mary (Stafford) Bennett. Bennett family sources indicate that Thaddeus Bennett was born 23 August 1764 in Warwick, Orange, New York, and that he married Eunice Bentley 28 February in Stratford, Connecticut.61 Since the Bennetts and the Bentleys did move to New York until 1775, it is doubtful that Thaddeus was born there. It also unlikely that he and Eunice were married in Connecticut, since they had already been living in Orange County, New York, for seven years.
His second wife was Rachael Cheney whom he married August 17, 1828 in Scioto Co., OH.
Children of Thaddeus Bennett and Sheba Eunice Bentley are:
Thaddeus remarried but the date and place are unknown. His second wife's name was Elizabeth. Her last name is assumed to be Meade. One record found shows that Thaddeus married the "widow Meade."
They had 5 children:
Elizabeth died on May 7, 1826. Thaddeus married again. His third wife was Rachel Chaney, born on March 5, 1765. They were married on August 17, 1828 in Scioto County, Ohio.
Thaddeus Bennett married (2) Rachel Mead, daughter of Judah Mead. Judah Mead was a farmer born in England, who migrated from Tioga County, New York to Ohio. Thaddeus and Rachel had several children:
Thaddeus Bennett died 8 January 1834 and was buried in the Stockdale Cemetery, just outside of Portsmouth, Scioto, Ohio. His will, recorded in September 1834 indicates that he was a man of some wealth at the time of his death.74
