Sheridan Gilbrith Quillen

Sheriden Quillen was probably the brother of James Robert Quillen who family tradition remembers as "Samuel L. Quillen, a carpenter."

In 1880 he was living with the family of Sarah McIntosh, age 55, born in Ireland. She was living next door to Robert Patterson, who might have been a relative of Sheridan's mother.

According to Evelyn (Horn) Miller, her grandfather James Quillen was son or brother of a Samuel L. Quillen, a carpenter. He was probably James' brother Sheridan.

In 1864, an 18-year-old Samuel Quillin (born 1846) enlisted in the Union Army (Company I, 45th Iowa Infantry) at Fairfield, Jefferson County, Iowa. His residence was given as Locust Grove Township. There was a Quillen family in neighboring Van Buren County, where Eliza Jane Quillen married Benjamin Wright.
