About Shirley John Finney

Shirley J. Finney, 96, husband of Alene Frazier Finney, of Montgomery, Ohio, passed away Sunday, September 13 at Meadowbrook Health Center. He was born April 29, 1919 in Estill County to the late David and Lizzie Tipton Finney. He was a World War II Army Veteran serving in the Southern Philippines, Luzon, New Guiena, Bismarch and many other countries. While serving from 1942-1945 he received a Purple Heart, six bronze stars, good conduct ribbon, and an Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon. Shirley was a retired machinist for the Homan Company. Survivors include, wife, Alene Finney, Montgonmery, OH; sons, Robert Ray Finney, California, Gary and wife, Linda Finney, Alexandria, Larry and wife, Mary Finney, Reading, Ohio, and Gerald Hall, Reading, Ohio; sister, Eula McQuary, Gratis, Ohio; grandchildren, Melissa Sanzenbacker, Brian Finney, Jason Finney, Sarah Kobie, Alex FInney, Elise Finney, Nikki Morgan, and Chad Hall; great-grandchildren, Perry Kobie, Anthony Sanzenbacker, Mia Sanzenbacker, Olivia Sanzenbacker, Taylor Finney, Brianna Finney, Naomi Finney, Brian Finney Jr., and Jaycee Finney; great great-grandchild, Akira Sanzenbacker. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Freeman Finney, Raymond Finney, Ernest Finney, and Thomas Finney, and sisters, Hattie Tipton and Eunice Bellamy. Services Friday, September 18, 1:00PM Davis & Davis Funeral Home, Stanton. Visitation Friday after 11:00AM. Burial in Kennon Cemetery, Clay City.
