Sydney Edward Holmes

Our paternal Grandpa Sydney (Sid) Edward Holmes (spelt with a y not an i after the s) has left us with such precious memories of what a loving Granpa should leave. I remember he passed away the end of May (I was working at Marshalltown Exchange with my sister Sarah when we got the terrible news :O(. We both went off to the Ladies and bawled our eyes out. ) I remember it like it was yesterday instead of 34 years ago! And it still makes me cry! His goal was to make 90 years and he passed from pneumonia just a few months short of his bday in Sept. So far he has lived to an age his descendants have not reached - closest was his eldest daughter our aunty Thelma Bristow (nee Holmes) from Port Elizabeth passed when she was 89 too - a few months difference tho'.
Was 1st one in our family to request to be cremated - his reason being as an avid Gardener he saw what ants did to beans and he was having none of that
