Sidonie Pattyn (parents Edward Benard Pattyn and Maria Ludovica Logghe) was born December 22, 1899 in Bekeghem, W.V. Belgium. She entered the convent for a while in Belgium but this life was evidently not for her, for she left the convent in 1921 and married Charles Coeman. He was born December 9, 1897 in Aartrycke, West Vlaandars, Belgium, son of Francis and Virginia Coeman. They had one son born in Belgium who stayed with his maternal grandparents while they went to America. The son came to America with his grandparents about five years later. There were four more children born in America. They lived at 9090 Harrell in Detroit for many years.

They returned to Belgium to live but stayed only about six weeks. They then moved to Centerline Michigan, and lived there for some years and then moved to Utica area where they farmed until Charles died on February 24, 1954.

Sidonie and her youngest daughter moved to New Baltimore, MI, until Virginia married. She then lived with Virginia and her family until her health deteriorated to the point where she entered a nursing home. Sidonie died on May 8, 1976 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.

The Macomb Daily, May 10, 1976 read: "Mrs. Sidonie Coeman, 76, a Macomb County resident for 44years, died Saturday the 8th in Nightingale Nursing Home North, Sterling Heights,Michigan. She is survived by her son: Basil of Detroit; daughters: Mrs. Earl(Mary Therese) Diegel of Utica, Mrs. Robert (Elizabeth) Vandeberghe of Uticaand Mrs. Charles (Virginia) Reichenbach of Mt. Clemens; 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren , and sisters: Mrs. Coralie Storme of Detroit and Mrs.Leona Michaels of E. Detroit. Funeral services will be at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday in the William Sullivan and Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road, Utica, and 10:30 a.m. in St. Thecla Catholic Church with Fr. Mario DiGuilio officiating. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Utica. A Scripture Service will be held at 7:00p.m.today.
