"Siv Carli, retired Clackamas farmer, celebrates 100th birthday

"Working hard, eating well and a good sense of humor" are Clackamas resident Siv Carli's secrets to a long life; he will celebrating his 100th birthday on Sept. 10.

Born in Beaverton on Sept. 10, 1916, Carli moved to Clackamas in 1919 and attended Milwaukie High School. He became well known in the area by farming 18 acres on the Clackamas River; he sold produce to Fred Meyer, Safeway and Danielson’s Thriftway. During the winter months he delivered for Standard Oil. He also delivered soil and barkdust through Carli’s Topsoil. He and his late wife, Irene, have four children: Carolyn (Ken) Hoffman of Milwaukie, Marilyn (Bob) Bocci of Happy Valley, Jim (Melinda) Carli of San Diego and Joe Carli of Oregon City. They have five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren."
