Simon Baird was enrolled as a burgess and guild brother of Glasgow on 24 December 1673. The burgh council admitted him in right of his wife, Beatrix Cordiner, the daughter of John Cordiner, merchant in Glasgow, who was already established as a burgess and guild brother. Glasgow Burgesses, p. 197

Simon Baird's wife, Beatrix Cordiner, was the sister of Janet Cordiner, the wife of Thomas Peter, afterwards Thomas Peter of Crossbasket and Cardarroch. On 16 November 1699, in the company of Thomas Peter, Simon Baird witnessed the baptism of Elizabeth Peter, the daughter of John Peter, merchant in Glasgow. John Peter was his wife's nephew [Registrar General for Scotland, New Register House, Edinburgh, Glasgow Baptisms, 1699-1707, reference OPR.644/7]. In the company of Thomas Peter again, he witnessed the baptism of Jonet Peter, the daughter of Walter Peter and Elizabeth Johns, another of his wife's nephews, whose baptism was registered on 2 January 1701. Again, on 7 March 1701, he witnessed the baptism of John Peter's son John, in company with Walter Peter, and the child's paternal grandfather, Baillie Thomas Peter, merchant, burgess, and guild brother of Glasgow, afterwards Thomas Peter of Crossbasket and Cardarroch [Registrar General for Scotland, New Register House, Edinburgh, Glasgow Baptisms, 1699-1707, reference OPR.644/8]

Death
