Veteran of the French and Indian Wars and the American Revolution.

He owned and operated a tavern and a grist mill along the Merriland River in Wells,ME. NOTE: This is not the same as the Jefferds Tavern that was relocated to Old York Village in the 20th century. That Jefferds Tavern was owned and run by Simon's brother Samuel.
