About Simon Taylor
I was a builder and also coroner of Fredrick co during the Revolutionary War. I was sheriff for a time and built the stone jail in 1767. I also built Springdale House for Mr. John Hite and helped build Abram's Delight, which is now a National Historic Site. I had more slaves than anyone in the area at one time and I am buried on my Ferndale Plantation, called the Washington Place. I also took census for two years.
