About Sipho Obedient Majola
Sipho Obedient Majola (1969 - 2003)
Brief overview:
Sipho (33), his father, Muntungethuke Majola (64), his sisters Sihle Thina Majola (21), and Sindisiwe Samukeliwe Majola (26), Sihle's 18-month-old son, Qiniso Hlongwane, and Sindiswe's 11-year-old son, Themba Manyathi, were all shot dead, on 19th July 2003. Umfolozi area police spokesperson Musa Khaba said the Majola family were asleep at 11.30pm when the gunmen, pretending to be policemen, knocked on their door.
Police have offered a R250 000 reward for any information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of people who shot dead six members of the Majola family at Mevamhlophe outside Empangeni. Provincial Safety and Security Minister Nyanga Ngubane assigned the Serious and Violent Crimes Unit to investigate the massacre. Muntungethuke's wife, Busisiwe Majola, 63, was hospitalised with gunshot wounds. Sihle's youngest son, nine-month-old Nhlonipho, was not injured.
