Biographical Summary
"Sir Alexander Cockburn, Baronet [S 1627] of Langton, grandson and heir, being son and heir of Archibald Cockburn, by Mary (married 11 April 1719), daughter of John (Campbell), 1st Earl of Breadalbane [S], which Archibald, who was admitted an advocate, 18 June 1715, was son and heir apparent of the last Baronet, but died v.p. January 1735. He succeeded to the Baronetcy on the death of his grandfather; was an officer in the Guards, and died unmarried, being slain 30 April 1745, at he battle of Fontenoy."
