Biographical Summary

"Son of John Birnie of Birnie, and Jean, daughter of James Hamilton of Broomhill, was admitted advocate on the 14th June 1661, and elected Dean of Faculty 1st February 1675. He was nominated successor to Sir Peter Wedderburn of Gosford, and took his seat on the bench as Lord Saline, 28th November 1679. He continued in office till the Revolution, but was not then re-appointed."
