About Sir Anketil Mallory I, of Kirkby Mallory
Anketil I has often been misidentified as "Kirkby Mallory", which was his landholding, not his first name.
Hikaru Kitabayashi presents persuasive evidence on GenForum that there were indeed two consecutive Anketil/Anketin Mallorys, and that the Ala Mallory who married Thomas Gre(e)ne was the daughter of Anketil I, not Anketil II. http://genforum.genealogy.com/mallory/messages/2720.html
And yes, he admits that it gets frightfully complicated.
