Biographical Summary
"Sir Archibald Cockburn, Baronet [S 1627] of Langton, son and heir; succeeded to the Baronetcy in or before 1657, being retoured heir to his brother, William, 10 December 1657. In 1674, he by purchase and grant obtained the moiety of the office of Usher, which his father had alienated, together with a salary of £250; Heretable Sheriff of Berwickshire, 1696; M.P. [S] thereof 1678, 1685-86, 1689, and 1689-1702. He married firstly, Marion, daughter of John Sinclair, the younger, of Sevenson. He married secondly, Anna, daughter of Sir Thomas Stewart of Cultness, by Margaret Elliot, his wife. He was buried 28 June 1705, at Langton."
