Sir Archibald Grant of Monymusk, 3rd Baronet

Biographical Summary

"Sir Archibald Grant, Baronet [S. 1705], of Monymusk, 1st s. and h., by 2d wife, b. 17 Feb. 1731 ; raised a company of 100 men in 1748, with whom he served for some time in the East India Company's service at St. David's, in India ; suc. to the Baronetcy, 17 Sep. 1778. He m. firstly, 27 May 1755, Mary, da. and h. of James Callander and Elizabeth, da. of ( — ) Clark, his wife (afterwards 3d wife of the 2d Baronet), both abovenamed. She, who was b. 11 Nov. 1740, d. at Edinburgh, 15 Feb. 1787. He m. secondly, 8 Aug. 1794, Jessie, da. of ( — ) Macleod, of Colbecks. He d. 30 Sep. 1796, at Monymusk, aged 65. His widow, by whom he had no issue, d. 24 Oct. 1836."
