Sir Charles Barrington, 5th Bt. was born after 1670.1 He was the son of Thomas Barrington and Lady Anne Rich.1 He married, firstly, Bridget Monson, daughter of Sir John Monson and Judith Pelham, on 20 April 1693 at St. Bride's, Fleet Street, London, England.1 He and Anna Marie FitzWilliam obtained a marriage license on 23 May 1700.1 He died on 29 January 1714/15, without issue.1 He was buried at Hatfield Broadoak, Essex, England.1 His will (dated 2 July 1714) was probated in December 1715.1

Sir Charles Barrington, 5th Bt. succeeded to the title of 5th Baronet Barrington, of Barrington Hall [in Hatfield Broadoak], co. Essex [E., 1611] on 26 November 1691.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Essex between February 1694 and 1715.1 He held the office of Vice-Admiral of Essex.1

Wotton's Baronetage recrds that he was "a fast friend of the Church and Monarchy, and a courteous affable gentleman, as much esteemed as any in the county he lived in, and died generally lamented by all his friends."1

V. Sir CHARLES, who was several times elected knt. of the shire for Essex, and was made, by Queen Anne, vice-admiral of that co.; m. 1st, Bridget, sole da. of sir John Monson, bart. (by Judith, da. of sir Thomas Pelham, bart., great-grandfather to Thomas, duke of Newcastle), and after her decease he m. 2dly, Anna-Maria, da. of William, Earl Fitzwilliam, but neither of them had any issue. The greatest part of his estate he left by will to his sister, Shales {Anne Barrington Shales] , and after her decease to his nephew, Riche-Shales Barrington, esq., her eldest son, who dying unm., it came to his youngest brother John-Shales Barrington, esq., of Hatfield Broad Oak, in Essex. He d. 29 Jan. 1'715, when the title devolved on his first cousin, John Barrington.
