About Sir Charles Lindsay of Evelick, 5th Baronet
Biographical Summary
"Sir Charles Scott Lindsay, Baronet [S. 1666], of Evelick, yst. but only surv. s. and h., suc. to the Baronetcy, 6 March 1797. He was an officer in the Royal Navy, and had (but a few days before his succession) distinguished himself as Commander of La Bonne Citoyenne at the defeat of the Spanish fleet, 14 Feb. 1797, off Cape St. Vincent, being made Capt. R.N. 7 March following. He d. unm., being drowned while in command of the Daphne, 6 March 1799, off Demarara, in the West Indies, when the Baronetcy became extinct. Admon. July 1799."
