"Sir Charles William Frederick Augustus Lockhart-Ross, Baronet [S. 1672], of Balnagowan and Bonnington, 3d and yst. but only surv. s. and h., being 2d s. by the 2d wife, b, 19 Jan. 1812, at Cheltenham; suc. to the Baronetcy, 8 Feb. 1814; ed. at Eton; matric. at Oxford (Ch. Ch.), 18 April 1831, aged 19 ; took no interest in public affairs, and never filled any office. He m. firstly, 9 Feb. 1841, Elizabeth Baillie, da. of his uncle, Col. Robert Lockhart-Ross, 4th Dragoon Guards (5th s. of the 6th Baronet), by Caroline, da. of John Macbean. She d. s.p. 4 Nov. 1853, at Bonnington, aged 32. He m. secondly, 2 March 1865 (ceremony performed by the Minister of Lanark), Rebecca Sophia, 3d surv. da. of Henry Barnes, of Tufnell Park. He d. 26 July 1883, at Balnagowan, aged 71. His widow living 1904."
