Biographical Summary
"Sir Edward Augustus Cunynghame, Baronet [S. 1702], only s. and h. by 1st wife, b. Jan. 1839, at Wellesbourne, co. Warwick ; entered the Army, 1855 ; Lieut. 25th Foot, 1856 ; Capt. 32d Foot, 1859, retiring in 1864 ; suc. to the Baronetcy, 12 Nov. 1869. Late in 1876 he was committed to Newgate (with two others) for trial on a charge of conspiracy, but was released on bail 24 Jan. 1877, and d. unm. that same day at Clunn's Hotel, Covent Garden, before trial, aged 38."
