Biographical Summary
"Sir Gilbert Gbierson, Baronet [S. 1685], of Rock Hall in Lag, uncle and h. male, being 4th and yst. s. of the 1st Baronet. He joined the Jacobite rising in 1715 ; was Writer and Chamberlain to the Duke of Buccleuch [S.], in 1733 ; suc, on the death of his father in April 1736, to the principal family estates, and was served heir of entail and provision to his br. William [the 2d Baronet] 24 Nov. 1760. He suc. to the Baronetcy in 1765. He m Elizabeth, da. of Robert Maitland, Col. of the Foot Guards. He d. 7 Feb. 1766. His widow d. 8 April 1788."
