Notes for HENRY STAVELEY LAWRENCE:
'Henry Staveley Lawrence, Bombay Service, magistrate and collector. His wife Phyllis was killed in a carriage accident in Karachi 2 July 1912. Henry was a very clever fellow, he passed high into the India Civil Service, and was over the Bombay Agriculture Dept. Educated at Magdelen, Oxford he went to
India in 1890. He received the high appointment of Chief Commissioner of Sind, with a seat on the Legislative Council of Bombay in 1916. He was made C.S.I. in 1918. He was temporary Governor of Bombay and appointed K.C.S.I. IN 1926, the year he retired from the Indian Civil Service.' His wife was the daughter of Col Edward Napier.
