Biographical Summary
"Sir James Campbell, Baronet [S. 1668 ?] of Aberuchill and Kilbryde, grandson and h., being s. and h. of Colin Campbell, of Pitliver aforesaid, Advocate, by Catherine, da. of William Nisbet, of Dirleton in East Lothian, which Colin, who was only s. and h. ap. of the late Baronet by his 1st wife (whose estate of Pitliver he inherited and sold) d. v.p. about 1738. He was b. 1723 ; was an officer in the Scots Greys and present at the battle of Fontenoy, 30 April 1745; suc. to the Baronetcy, 10 May 1754. He sold the estate of Aberuchill in 1772, and entailed that of Kilbryde in 1800. He m. firstly, 4 March 1754, Margaret, da. and h. of Capt. William Conductor Ball (or Bald), of Hatton Garden, London, niece of Alexander Le Grand, a Commissr. of Customs. She d. 19 Sep. 1766, at Kilbryde. He m. secondly, Mary Ann, da. of Joseph Burn. He d. March 1812."
