He was called to the bar in 1666; appointed secretary to the board known as the "Farmers of the Revenue" for Ireland. He had three sons who came to the New World, settling in Chowan Precinct, North Carolina. These Hinton brothers were grandsons of Sir Dr. John Hinton (1603-1682). They Came to North Carolina about 1710 and it is said they were men of prominence, wealth and had widely spread connections both in the New World as well as the Old World.
Research Notes
The christening record for son John is ten years later than the North Carolina records show for John Hinton who married Mary Hardy. Also, in 1703 the William Hinton was married. The above son William would have only been seven years old in 1703.
