30 May 1524: Charter. Robert Maule of Panmure of the lands of Balrudery in favor of Mariot Stewart formerly wife of James Scrymgeour Constable of Dundee in liferent and Elizabeth and Agnes Scrymgeours their two daughters in fee, proceeding on the resignation of the said James Scrymgeour in favor of James Learthmonth of Dairsy Provost of St. Andrews as a mid person betwixt the said James Scrymgeour and an Honorable woman the said Mariot Stewart formerly wife of the said James, before the pronunciation or promulgation of the sentence of Divorce betwixt them and upon the resignation of the said James Learmonth in favors of the said Mariot Stewart as is more fully contained in a Contract betwixt the said James and Mariot. 23 August 1534: Copy of charter of resignation by Robert Mawle of Panmwyr to James Scrimgeor, constable of Dunde, and Marion Vadlaw, his wife, of two chalders of victual out of the lands of Banvye the said victual having been resigned by the said James. Witnesses:- Thomas Strathaquhin, sir John Vyntown, Florence Rydy and David Lwyd, chaplains and notaries public. Biographical Summary
Sir JAMES,* who, in a sasine of An∣drew lord Gray, is designed son and heir of sir James Scrymgeour, constable of Dundee, 20th February 1504, and got a charter under the great seal,*Jacobo Scrymgeour, militi, con∣stabul. de Dundee, filio quondam Jacobi, &c. of the lands of Sonayhard, and others, in the shire of Aberdeen, dated 9th June 1507.
He got also charters, under the great seal, of the lands of Dudhope,* Kirkton, and a great many others, inter 1526 et 1530.
He married Mariot Stewart,* daughter of —, by whom he had three daughters.
1. Elizabeth, married to her cousin James Scrymgeour of Kirkton, son of her uncle A∣lexander before mentioned, who carried on the line of this family; of whom more after∣wards.
2. Agnes, married to sir William Bruce of Earlshall.
3. Janet,* married to James, third lord Carlyle of Torthorald, by a charter under the great seal

8 May 1547: Charter by Archibald Earl of Angus to John Scrimgeour of Glastre, constable of Dundee, his heirs and assignees, of all and sundry the lands of Kirktoun of Erlistradichty, and also three 8th parts and 25/ of a fourth 8th part of the lands of Ethybetoun, lying in the regality of Kerymure; which lands belonged to Elizabeth and Agnes Scrimgeours, daughters of the late James S. constable of Dundee, heritably and were by them, with consent of James Scrimgeour husband of said Elizabeth, and of Peter Brus, heir apparent of Erlishall, husband of said Agnes, resigned in the hands of their superiors at Edinburgh: To be holden of the granter and his successors in fee and heritage for the rights and services used and wont. Dated at Edinburgh 8 May 1547. Witnesses, James Scrimgeour of Roddgoddyn, Mr Hugh Rig of Carbery, James Ogilvy of Balfuir, David Grahame of Fentre, Knight, and William Rethe notary.
