Sir John Bowyer, 2nd Bt. was born on 25 April 1653.1 He was the son of Sir John Bowyer, 1st Bt. and Mary Milward.1 He married Hon. Jane Murray, daughter of Henry Murray and Anne Bayning, Viscountess Bayning of Foxley, circa 10 July 1672.1 He died circa July 1691.1 He was buried on 18 July 1691 at Biddulph, Staffordshire, England.1 His will (dated 16 February 1687/8) was probated on 20 April 1695.1

Sir John Bowyer, 2nd Bt. succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Bowyer, of Knipersley, co. Stafford [E., 1660] in July 1666.1 He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, on 11 July 1668.1 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, on 9 July 1669 with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He held the office of Sheriff of Staffordshire from 1677 to 1678.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Warwick from February 1677/78 to January 1678/79.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Staffordshire from 1679 to 1681.1
